Day#100

One hundred! Woohoo!

It's fitting that there's something extra special going on today. Sam is in a play in front of the whole school this morning. It's titled something like "The Day Rosa Parks Stood Up by Sitting Down" and he plays Papa Gene, an elderly black man. He's really pumped although as you can tell in this practice run at home, he plays Papa pretty low-key. (Please, video, work.)

Day#99

Not just Caroline that Bob likes to snuggle with. And vice versa.

Day#98

Got my hair blonded today and that feels good, you know? Helps to get through the last of this winter. I can't stop dreaming of being on a beach and/or floating in the swimming pool.

Which looks like this today. I wonder how many inches deep it is frozen after our days of zero temps. But today things are thawing so yay!

Day#97

This is kinda what an end-of-February Monday is like.

(No cat or bunny that I know, just saw it on the 'net and it made me laugh.)

Day#96

Today was a Dad/Daughter day and I was lucky enough to be invited to go along. We went to an orchid exhibit at the Botanical Gardens and then we walked around the grounds. It was a different experience since I'd always been there before in the summer. Inside the Climatron felt pretty toasty, but walking in the wind outside definitely felt like February.

Day#95

All our commitments for Saturday were cancelled due to the expected winter weather so Gary and I spent the day eating lots of snacky food and watching Netflix, movie after movie.

The lineup was:
Drinking Buddies (liked)
The One I Love (not good)
Blue Ruin (downer but interesting)
Cuban Fury (liked, lots of laughing)
Silver Linings Playbook (good)

Day#94

The kids had two days off for snow/cold this week. One day Caroline and I went to have some California Pizza Kitchen and make a couple of return/exchanges at the Galleria; one was for this Vera bag which is mine to tote stuff back and forth from house to van. And then yesterday we met a bunch of girls at the movie theatre. The movie was kinda meh, not terrible but not great. We left the boys at home both days and I think everyone was happy with their days off.

Day#93

This was taken from the tv, but isn't it a cool pic?! I call it:
A winter morning

I wonder if that north leg actually felt warm?

Day#92

When Sam said his snow boot had gotten a hole in it..... I wasn't expecting that! Too much playing for these puppies, I guess.

What to do on a beautiful snowy day:

Day#89

Our breakfast eggs today. They were from a former Rosewood neighbor that has chickens. I thought they were as pretty as Easter eggs.

Day#87

Happy Valentines Day / Night : )

Day#87

All you can eat pancakes at Denny's will eventually bring out a smile.

Day#86

Guess who has a secret admirer that isn't really secret since he did sign the card.

Day#85

This seemed particularly striking today-- and makes me simultaneously happy and proud.

Day#84

How I found Bob this morning. He and I agree; you just can't beat lying in a sunny spot.

Day#83

A sign of a favorite recipe, it's covered with all kinds of stains. I hadn't made this dish in years, but had it on my mind. It's simple, but really really good, stir-fried noodles with shrimp and broccoli. It tastes like it's from a restaurant. That was our Sunday supper, just too bad there wasn't any left over. I'm gonna make it again soon though.

Day#82

I had to search, but finally found just the cookbook I was looking for. And what a relief because it contains my one and only copy of a super delicious recipe.

Day#81

Sometimes it's nice to live with a Sam's nearby, but when your three pounds of chocolate covered raisins are gone in a matter of days, then maybe it's not.

Day#80

Back to eye doctor with Grant and he found a pair to suit him this time. He's just thrilled!

Day#79

Day#78

A year and a half after the move, we've been emptying some boxes from the basement and sorting books, etc. I came across what is probably the lamest book I've ever spent money on. Granted, it cost a quarter from a yard sale but that really was too much. I present to you the most unfunny cartoon book ever:

Day#77

Tuesday and Thursday are my yoga days. I love yoga and am so grateful I have been able to practice for a year and a half in a class that feels like just what I need. It seems like I have made some great progress in flexibility, strength, and relaxation.

But there is this one situation that is bugging me and I can't let it go. We are usually in a large oval formation in class and I am kinda in between a threesome of older ladies that are obviously friends and are lighthearted, and another older lady that is self-proclaimed 'from the East Coast' and in my impression is what you might call no nonsense.

Twice the EC gal has had some questionable behavior and it really kinda affects my day as silly as it seems. The friends group is usually laughing and chit chatting some at the start of class and takes a minute to wind down and get quiet. The EC gal actually said one day in a really nasty tone of voice, "Just. shut. up." Not to where the talky girls would hear but I definitely did. I felt it was very rude, but thought maybe she was having a rough day and tried not to judge her too much. Yoga, at least from what I've gathered, is supposed to be about the heart and soul, and respect, gratitude, and honor.

But then again this week, EC was nasty again. We were working with straps at the suggestion of one of the talky girls, which is probably where the attitude originated, and as the teacher with the kindest, most gentle voice in the world was explaining how to do it, EC said, "How am I supposed to do that? This is ridiculous!" and she threw down the strap and laid on her back. She might as well been a three year old having a tantrum, I couldn't believe she acted like that.

I have ignored her both times, but next time if she pulls something, I think I will glare at her which should really be a message because I keep my eyes closed for the whole hour mostly. I just want to tell my friends, my kids, anyone around me, please do not let me ever think I can act like that no matter how cranky I might feel.

Day#76

Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and some Saturdays are my Zumba days. Once they wore out, I wanted to get new shoes just like my old Nike Frees, but Nike had to change the perfect shoe and I didn't love the new style's fit. So I got these Brooks PureFlows in November. Not loving these either but some days I like them ok, mostly because they are so lightweight. Today I didn't though.

Day#75

Super Bowl is on and I swear I'm the quarterback of laundry.

Day#74

We went to visit the grandparents this weekend and this, darn it, is the only picture taken. And it's actually a series of pictures known as a silly kid vid.
